More than a decade working underground, including as a supervisor and preparing for deputy qualifications, shaped Johann Potgieter’s understanding of mining safety and the responsibility that comes with it.

It reinforced the importance of reliable information, sound judgement and the trust crews place in one another.

After an injury ended his underground career, it gave Jo time to look at mining and mining safety from a different perspective. He began exploring a question that became the foundation of Saelix:
